363pp. Quarto [26 cm] 1/4 red leather with light green cloth covered boards, gilt stamped titles, and a gilt stamped vignette of an owl on the front cover. Very good. The covers are heavily rubbed, more so on the spine. The leather at the head of the spine is chipped. The largest chip measures 3/4 of an inch deep. The underlying boards are exposed at the corners. The book is very sturdy
Contains illustrations from the original photographs, and an index to common and scientific names. William Earl Dodge Scott went on numerous ornithological expeditions, including expeditions to West Virginia, Florida, Missouri, Arizona, Colorado, England and Jamaica. His autobiography was titled '"The Story of a Bird Lover."
