Description

275pp. Duodecimo [19 cm] Green cloth with a gilt stamped title on the spine and a gilt stamped vignette on the front cover. Very good. The extremities are gently rubbed and bumped, and the spine is slightly rolled. The rear board is a bit more rubbed. The underlying boards are peeking through at the corners. The spine ends are frayed. The fore edge of the front free endsheet has a small chip, along with several short closed tears. The pages are mildly browned. The underlying cords are visible occasionally in the gutters, however the book is sturdy.

Comments

"If, by the publication of these gliding narratives of slaughter, of sorrow, of heroism, or of hope, the author shall have rescued from impending oblivion a few of the thrilling scenes and unknown actors of this momentous era, and thereby encouraged others to fill future poetic volumes of authentic history, he will feel that recalling and publishing these camp-fire recollections and sketches of a life upon the border has not been utterly in vain." - P.W. Norris. Philetus W. Norris was the second superintendent of Yellowstone National Park.
