Information for the Reader- "Although polygamy gave the Mormons front-page notoriety, it was but one of their unique characteristics. They were a temple-building people, and in their temples their work for the dead introduced a new element in religion. In their temples the living and the dead are united in family groups, which link an everlasting past with an eternal future. In this distinction is seen one of the doctrinal differences between Mormons and other sects."
