The spine and edges of the covers are faded. There are a handful of stains on the covers. The largest stain measures 3/4 of an inch in diameter. The edges of the covers are slightly bumped and frayed. The underlying boards are exposed at the bottom corners. There is a one inch split in the cloth at the head of the spine. There are also multiple smaller splits in the cloth at the spine ends. The pages are foxed. The text block is cracked multiple times, however it is sturdy.
Lacks map pp. 154-155. This is one of the great US Government exploration reports of the American West, and a must for any serious collector of exploration or Western Americana. "Stansbury's Report along with Gunnison's book, The Mormons, provided the outside world with an objective look at the Mormons of Utah as well as with a scientific appraisal of the resources and fauna and flora of this section of the Great Basin." - Brigham D. Madsen.
