277pp. Octavo [20.5 cm] Rebacked with simple black cloth. With the original brown blind stamped cloth covered boards. New endsheets and flyleaves. Very good. The underlying boards are exposed along the edges. Spine subtly rolled. The frontispiece page is darkened and foxed, and has a light moisture stain on the bottom margin. There is very occasional light foxing throughout the pages. The book is sturdy.
Includes an engraved frontispiece of Joseph Smith, "the prophet pronouncing the Greek Psalter to be a dictionary of Egyptian hieroglyphics". Early outsider's account of Mormonism.
