This book is partly genealogy and partly biography. From p. 42- "In Utah, there was no dentist within a hundred miles of our home, but lots of toothache. I had seen a few teeth pulled and had had a few taken out myself. So I bought a pair of forceps and pulled a good many teeth for people in and around Oasis, Deseret and the district generally. Whenever I got a hold of a tooth I knew it was mine. I rather enjoyed the work, as it never hurt me at all and I knew I was relieving the patient of so much pain." The author even attempts to marry off his widowed sisters at the end of the text.
