307pp. Quarto [30 cm] Brown cloth covered boards with a gilt stamped title on the spine. Fair. The covers are heavily discolored and stained. The majority of the backstrip has come away from the spine. In addition, there are multiple splits in the cloth of the spine. The longest split measures one inch. The underlying boards are exposed at the corners, and the corners are bumped. The cloth at the edges of the spine and covers is frayed. The endsheets have numerous cracks and small holes along the hinges, exposing the underlying cords. There is a previous owner's name, along with a date on the front pastedown. The pages are mildly browned, however they are very clean.
No atlas. The first of Dutton's two great works for the USGS. Taken together, these works comprise the first detailed study of the four corners country and the Colorado Plateau: Utah, Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico.
