Rebacked with the majority of the subtly cracked original spine overlaid. Very good. The edges of the covers are rubbed. The underlying boards are exposed along the edges. The pocket at the rear is coming away from the pastedown. The edges of the endsheets and pocket are slightly darkened. There is a thin, 3 inch long loss from the fore edge of the frontispiece. The paper near the loss is also abraded. The pages are slightly browned. With the map booklet that contains three maps in the rear pocket. The wraps of the booklet are subtly faded and moisture stained. The edges of the covers are lightly creased and chipped, and have a couple of short closed tears. The maps have several small closed tears and a small open tear. The longest closed tear measures 3 inches.

From the publisher's statement- "The photographic material that has gone into the making of this tour represents a vast expenditure of time, thought and money. A half million dollars would probably not cover the amount expended in acquiring the basic line of negatives from which this set has been assembled. The most remote and inaccessible regions have been assembled."
