Before this book was published, Farina's work had appeared in such magazines as Poetry, The Atlantic, and Mademoiselle. Farina, although he led brief life, was also a folk singer. He married and released several albums with Mimi Baez, the sister of Joan Baez. One of these albums was released posthumously. Unfortunately, Farina died two days after this picaresque novel was published.
