Comments

At age sixteen, Zukofsky entered Columbia University, where he wrote for and helped edit several student literary magazines. He identified with the literary avant garde, as represented particularly by James Joyce, Ezra Pound, and T. S. Eliot. This group saw itself as an elite committed to a revolutionary assault upon a dead bourgeois culture. Zukofsky co-founded and was an important theorist of the Objectivist poets. This group had an important impact and influence on later generations of poets.
