148pp. Octavo [24 cm] Black cloth covered boards with a silver stamped title on the spine. Very good. The edges of the spine and covers are ever so slightly faded and bumped. The covers are just a tiny bit concave. There are several small dark marks on the top edge of the text block. The dust jacket is in very good condition. Ever so slightly soiled. The price has been torn out of the front inside flap.
From the jacket- "The literature of western history contains many memoirs, journals, diaries, and letters of explorers, gold miners, ranchers, merchants, and the like- almost all of them men. There are fewer records to document the lives of women who also served. The letters of Mary Edgerton provide such a view and thus constitute a valuable primary source for a better understanding of life on the American frontier."
