Thick quarto [28.5 cm] Full brown leather with raised bands and a gilt stamped title on the spine. Good. The spine and covers are scratched and heavily rubbed. The boards are gently bowed. There are a couple of small chips in the leather at the ends of the slightly rolled spine. The spine has a multitude of cosmetic surface cracks. The underlying boards are peeking through at the corners. The edges of the text block are subtly foxed. There is a loss from the top fore edge of the front free endsheet, and there are many closed tears and chips in the edges of the front free endsheet as well. The longest closed tear measures 1 and 1/2 inches long. Finally, this page has several tiny holes in the surface of the paper. There is sporadic foxing throughout the pages. The endsheets and flyleaves are darkened and heavily foxed. Occasionally the pages are extremely dark, but legible. Offsetting from the illustrations here and there. The last several pages have large damp stains in the top right corners. The family record pages have some contemporary notations. The book is sturdy.
