268; 494pp. Small quartos [24.5 cm] Red cloth covered boards with gilt stamped titles on the spines. Top edges gilt. Very good. The edges of the spines and covers are gently rubbed and bumped. There are several light, barely perceptible stains along the edges of the covers of volume 1. The deepest stain measures 2 inches deep, and the widest stain measures 2 inches wide. The front board of volume 2 is just a tiny bit bowed. There are multiple very small scratches in the gilt on the top edges of the text blocks. Faint erased pencil notations on the front free endsheets. The pages are mildly browned. The dust jackets are in fair condition only. Tattered, with numerous large losses from the edges. Age-toned. Lightly rubbed and soiled as well. There are a couple of small light moisture stains on the spine of volume 2.
