SIGNED. 314pp. Octavo [21.5 cm] Yellow cloth covered boards with black ink stamped titles on the spine and front cover, and a brown ink stamped horse vignette on the front cover. Good. The covers and spine are gently soiled and stained. The front board is ever so slightly concave, and the spine is a bit rolled. The top edge of the text block is heavily foxed. The endsheets are subtly discolored. There is a former owner's bookplate on the front pastedown. Large portions of the dust jacket have been adhered to the verso of the front free endsheet, the verso of the frontispiece page, and to the rear endsheet.
Signed by Will James on the front free endsheet. Illustrated by the Author. Born in Canada, Ernest DuFault left home at the age of 15 and traveled west to seek out his dream. He became the American cowboy, Will James. Beginning at the bottom, he worked and became a top hand. Handling rough horses filled his days and became the basis for many of his books.
