263pp. Quarto [24 cm] Black cloth covered boards with a gilt stamped title on the spine, and an illustrated paper label mounted to the front board. Illustrated endpapers. Good only. The covers are heavily abraded. The covers are also slightly concave, and the spine is ever so slightly rolled back. The endsheets are mildly foxed. There is a former owner's bookplate on the front pastedown. Hinges slightly weak. The dust jacket is in good condition only as well, with mild general rubbing and soiling. There are numerous small losses from the creased edges. The majority of the losses are from the spine ends, and measure 1 inch wide by 1/2 inch deep. There are also multiple closed tears in the edges. The longest closed tear measures 1 and 1/4 inches long. There is a small light moisture stain on the spine, and there are several small, but darker stains along the fold of the rear flap.
Illustrated by the Author. Born in Canada, Ernest DuFault left home at the age of 15 and traveled west to seek out his dream. He became the American cowboy, Will James. Beginning at the bottom, he worked and became a top hand. Handling rough horses filled his days and became the basis for many of his books.
