Octavo [23.5 cm] Original, pebbled brown and green cloth covered flexible boards with a green, gilt and blind stamped title, wagon and pioneer design on the front cover. Illustrated endsheets. No dust jacket. Black and white facsimile photos and illustrations; pictorial endsheets. Very good. The edges of the spine and covers are rubbed. There are 4 small splits in the cloth at the ends of the spine. The corners of the covers are just a little bumped. The pages are mildly age-toned, and have sporadic pencil marks.
Emigrants following the Hastings Cutoff met with disaster and the Cutoff was responsible for the deaths of nearly half the members of the Donner Party. Flake 4565, Howes K59. Per Flake, "Concerned with the Hastings Cut-off but has some material on Mormon pioneers."
