SIGNED. 1067pp. Thick octavo [22 cm] Dark blue cloth covered boards with a gilt stamped title on the spine. Very good. The edges of the spine and covers are gently rubbed and bumped. The top edge of the text block is a little scratched, and there is a small scuff mark on the bottom edge of the text block. The pages are mildly browned. The dust jacket is in very good condition. Lightly rubbed, age-toned and creased. There are 5 or 6 small losses from the edges. The largest loss is from the paper at the head of the spine, measuring 1/4 inch wide by 1/2 inch deep. There is a very short closed tear along the fold of the spine of the rear panel, and there is a 1 inch long closed tear in the top edge of the front panel. There are two very small light stains that are only perceptible on the internal, non-visible side of the jacket. Price-clipped.
Inscribed by Carl Sandburg on the front free endsheet. Carl Sandburg was an American writer and editor, widely known for his poetry. He was awarded three Pulitzer Prizes, two for his poetry and another for a biography of Abraham Lincoln.
