SIGNED. 395; 367; 354pp. Quarto [27.5 cm]; vellum parchment and red paper covered boards, with red gilt stamped spine labels, and gilt stamped elephant designs on the front covers. Top edges gilt. Very good. The extremities are soiled and lightly rubbed and bumped. The rear boards are more heavily soiled and stained. The underlying boards are peeking through at the corners. The endsheets of volume 3 are cracked along the hinges. Pages are clean and bright.

Number 321 of 537. Signed by Rudyard Kipling on the limitation page of volume 1. Kipling obtained early success with his poems but soon became recognized as a talented short story writer for his portrayals of the people, history, and culture of his times. Kipling was the winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1907.
