INSCRIBED. 438pp. Quarto [25 cm] Natural cloth covered boards with a black ink stamped title on the spine and tan ink stamped decorative patterns on the spine and covers. Very good. The edges of the text block are ever so slightly soiled, and have a couple of barely perceptible small light moisture stains. There is a small nick in the cloth along the bottom edge of the front cover. The corners of the covers are very gently bumped. Tanned pages. The dust jacket is in very good condition, with several small losses from the edges, and one very small open tear along the fold of the rear flap. The majority of the loss from the edges is from the paper at the top edge of the spine and surrounding area on the front panel. There is a 3 inch closed tear in the surface of the rear panel. Age-toned. The jacket is also very lightly soiled and rubbed.
Inscribed by Waters on the half title page. Frank Waters wrote 27 books, including novels, biographies, histories, and essay collections. The majority of his fiction and non-fiction mirrors Waters' wide interest in the culture and religion of Navajo, Hopi, Pueblo, and pre-Columbian peoples. He felt that all his books were immediate failures in the beginning. However, they were constantly reprinted in small printings and translated into foreign languages until finally gaining worldwide recognition.
