SIGNED. 211pp. Octavo [22.5 cm] Blue cloth spine with black paper covered boards, a silver stamped title on the spine, and blind stamped simple linear designs on the front cover. Very good. The spine is faded. The boards are a little soiled. In a light green paper covered slipcase. The slipcase is in very good condition, with subtle fading. The underlying boards are exposed occasionally along the edges. There is a 2 inch long tear in the paper along one of the edges.
Signed by Elie Wiesel on the special edition page. After World War II, Elie Wiesel studied in Paris, later becoming a journalist. During an interview with the well-known French writer, Francois Mauriac, he was urged to write about his experiences in the death camps. The result was his internationally highly regarded memoir, Night (La Nuit), which has since been translated into over thirty languages.
