319pp. Octavo [22 cm] Tan cloth with a black ink stamped title on the spine. Illustrated endsheets. Very good. The extremities are very gently bumped, rubbed and soiled. The front board is barely perceptibly concave. There is a very light damp stain on the bottom left corner of the rear cover. This stain measures 2 inches tall by 2 inches wide. There are large darkened strips on the free endsheets. Tanned pages. The dust jacket is in very good condition, with mild edge wear and chipping. A couple of the chips along the top edge of the front panel are a bit larger than the others. The jacket is also very slightly soiled and age-toned. There is a small light stain on the front panel, and the rear panel has multiple tiny light stains. There is a 5 inch long thin mark on the rear panel.

The nineteenth-century conflict between the Hudson's Bay Company and the North Westers, the Pemmican War, is the background for this historical novel.
