309pp. Octavo [22 cm] Pale blue and black cloth covered boards with a gilt stampede title on the spine, and a black ink stamped American Folkways design on the front board. Very good. The extremities are gently rubbed, bumped and faded. The edges of the covers have minor staining. The pages are very slightly yellowed. In a very good dust jacket, with general rubbing, browning and soiling. There are numerous very small losses from the edges of the covers. Despite these flaws the jacket is still quite attractive. Price-clipped.
From the dust jacket- "William B. Bracke has written a fascinating and informative study of the American heartland where seascapes of waving wheat turn, almost as you watch, from vivid green to yellow gold in the late spring. His book is as warm and broad and fertile as the region it chronicles."
