The endsheets have large areas of darkening. The pages are browned. In a good only dust jacket. There are several damps stains on the jacket. The largest damp stain is near the spine, and measures 2 inches tall by just over 1 inch wide. The spine and the folds are very heavily browned. There are numerous small losses from the edges. The largest loss is from the paper at the head of the spine. The loss is 1/4 of an inch deep by 1 and 1/2 inch wide. There are also a handful of small closed tears in the edges. The longest closed tear is 3/4 of an inch long.

Comments

"This is quite beautiful verse, that not the most academic defender of the traditions of English poetry could defame. A great many of the lines sing themselves into the memory at a first reading; several of the poems build up such a unity of sound that one is able to think of them, apart from their thought, as a single shapely object like a beautiful vase."
