149pp. Octavo [24 cm] Rust colored cloth with gilt title on backstrip. Very good. The extremities are ever so slightly bumped and rubbed. The spine is subtly rolled. In a very good dust jacket, with general mild darkening, soiling and staining. The largest stain is on the paper at the foot of the spine, and measures about 1/4 inch in diameter. There is a tiny closed tear along the bottom edge of the front panel, and there are two very small holes in the surface of the rear panel, near the spine.
Introduction and notes by Everett L. Cooley. Number four of the series, Utah, The Mormons, and the West. This reprint was limited to 1,250. The Kanes first came into contact with the Mormons in 1846. Overtime the Kane's became close friends of Brigham Young even staying with him at his winter home in St. George, Utah. That trip became the catalyst for this book as Elizabeth and Brigham traveled around southern Utah and northern Arizona in 1874.
