371pp. Octavo [23.5 cm] Brown cloth covered boards with dark brown ink stamped titles on the spine and front cover. Very good. The extremities are very slightly rubbed and bumped. The spine is just a tiny bit rolled back. The text block is just starting to crack in a couple of places. Tanned pages. The endsheets have subtle darkening. In a very good dust jacket. Mildly rubbed, creased, and faded. The rear panel is soiled. There are numerous small losses from the edges. The largest loss is from the paper at the head of the spine, and measures 1 inch wide by 1/4 inch deep. There is also a 1 inch long closed tear in the top edge.
Joseph C. Rich was born in Nauvoo, Illinois, and grew up during the first decade of Mormon settlement in the west.
