136pp. Small quarto [25 cm] 1/4 brown cloth with illustrated gray paper covered boards. Illustrated endsheets. Good only. The boards are a little bit concave, stained, and darkened. The extremities are gently rubbed and bumped, and the underlying boards are exposed occasionally along the edges. The decorative stamping on the spine is a bit faded. The top edge of the text block is darkened, and there is a small soiled scuff mark on the bottom edge of the text block. There is a tiny crack in the front endsheet along the hinge, and the hinges are weak. The text block is cracked multiple times. The tissue guard for the illustration at p. 124 is partially detached. Browned pages.
Complete with 15 tipped in illustrations by Arthur Rackham. Rackham's first book illustrations were published in 1893 in To the Other Side by Thomas Rhodes, and his first important commission was in 1894 for The Dolly Dialogues.
