The edges of the spine and covers are lightly rubbed and soiled. Slight spine lean. There are numerous light ripples in the cloth covering the boards. There is a previous owner's blind stamp on the half title page. There is a small stain on the verso of this page as well. The bottom corner of p. 180 is creased. The dust jacket is in very good condition. Heavily rubbed. Also lightly scratched, stained and creased. The spine of the dust jacket is subtly discolored.
Signed by Russell Lee on the half title page. From the introduction- "This book, rather obviously, fills (at last!) an aching gap in the social history of documentary photography. We now have on the record books devoted to the work of Dorothea Lange, Ben Shahn, Walker Evans and Russell Lee- giants who stalked the deeply troubled America of the 1930's, taking unforgettable note of a hurt, ailing but so often proud people."
