252pp. Octavo [19.5 cm] Brown cloth covered boards with gilt stamped titles on the spine and front cover. Very good. Subtle spine roll. The spine ends are lightly bumped, and there is a small split in the cloth at the head of the spine. Minor rubbing to the spine ends and corners of the covers. The front endsheet is cracked along the hinge, and has large strips of subtle discoloration. The text block is fragile in several places. Yellowed pages. In a fair dust jacket. There are multiple pieces of tape along the edges covering the tears and small losses. Most of the tape is on the internal, non-visible side. The longest tear is closed, and measures 2 and 1/2 inches long. The dust jacket is also mildly rubbed, age-toned and soiled. There are 6 tiny check marks in pen on the rear panel.
From the dust jacket- "Reading this story is as good as spending six months on a ranch, so vividly does the author reproduce the atmosphere and workings of a Western cattle outfit."
