Small quartos 26 cm] 3/4 brown leather with pebbled brown cloth covered boards, raised bands, gilt stamped titles on the spines, and gilt stamped decorative patterns on the spine and covers. Marbled edges and endsheets. Very good. The extremities are rubbed, and the spines are subtly sunned. Gentle fading to the covers. Underlying boards exposed at the corners. The endsheets and flyleaves have previous and contemporary owners' bookplates, notations and markings. Tanned pages. The text block of volume 1 is cracked at the beginning. There is a 3/4" closed tear in the leather at the head of the spine of volume 1. The edges of the pages at the beginning of the second book are subtly damp stained. May require extra postage due to weight.
