Quarto [31 cm] Blue glossy paper over boards, white paper spine lettered in black. No dust jacket. Good. The spine and covers are rubbed, and have just a trace of soiling. There is a 5 and 1/2" inch tear in the paper along the front joint, and the backstrip is partially coming away from the spine. There are short tears in the backstrip at the head of the spine. The spine ends and corners of the covers are bumped, and the underlying boards are exposed at the corners. Internally, clean and bright.

First printings are in blue boards. Dr. Seuss has been called by teachers and librarians "The American Master of Logical Nonsense." According to the Introduction in First Editions of Dr. Seuss Books: A Guide to Identification by Helen Younger, Marc Younger and Dan Hirsch, as of 2002, no other author had sold as many books as Dr. Seuss.
