488pp. Quarto [32 cm] Full black cloth with decorative blind stamping to boards. Stamped red and gold eagle on the front board. Title gilt stamped on backstrip. Top edge gilt. Fair condition only. The extremities are rubbed and mildly soiled. The text block has almost completely come away from the covers. There is a previous owner's name on the front flyleaf. The pages are age-toned. The pages have sporadic light damp stains in the margins. Occasional light offsetting from the illustrations.


A massive compilation reflecting state of the art printing as it was in 1927. Numerous printers submitted various inserts that to the Photo-engraver's and Printer's Union for compilation in this massive book. Hundreds of inserts from printers across the country reflect everything from black and white to eleven color zinc plate printing. This work offer a nice overview of the various printing techniques of the early twentieth century.From the Dedication- "Photo-Engraving has been the hand-maiden of business progress through the development of advertising.
