Comments

Ex-libris of cartographer F.M. Bishop, who was a member of the first John Wesley Powell expedition. Bishop's bookplate is on the rear pastedown. Coues classic study on the subject. Profusely illustrated including six steel engravings. Nice association copy between two early members of what would become the USGS. Coues was a member of the Hayden's United States Geological and Geographical Survey of the Territories, serving as the ornithologist.
