305 pp. [20 cm]; full blue cloth with title stamped on front board and backstrip. Slight spine lean and edge wear to the boards, internally fine. Small bookseller's plate affixed to the front pastedown. The dust jacket shows rubbing and soiling, browning at its spine, and small losses and tears along the edges, folds, and corners; but still solidly in tact. A few clear tape 'repairs' on the inside of the jacket. The small [8 p.] booklet of illustrations is present and tipped in near the front, fine. A solid copy, showing all the unique illustrations by O'Neill. Very good in good dust jacket.

Includes drawings by the author on the dust jacket and frontis, drawings in a small 8-page booklet tipped in near the front, as well as two-tone illustrations on the front and rear endpapers. Rose O'Neill became successful as a magazine and book illustrator and, at a young age, was the best-known and highest-paid female commercial illustrator in the United States. She wrote novels and poetry. O'Neill earned a fortune and achieved fame by creating the Kewpie, the most widely known cartoon character until Mickey Mouse came along.
