Description

279 pp. Octavo [20 cm]; full purple cloth covered boards, white title stamped at head of spine. Solid binding, internally clean. Some fading and rubbing to boards, light staining and foxing at text block edges, else very good and internally fine. In the original dust jacket, showing some creasing at the folds, chipping and bumping to the edges and corners, good. The jacket has been unnecessarily 'reinforced' by brown tape on the inside of the jacket at the top and bottom edge. Uncommon in dust jacket.

Comments

William Plomer described himself as an Anglo-African-Asian and was noted for uniqueness and prescience in how he dealt with inter-racial themes in his novels and stories. A friend, avid reader of, and editor for Ian Fleming -- Fleming dedicated 'Goldfinger' to Plomer in 1959. Also an active librettist, Plomer was very engaged in the literary and music circles of his time in London.
