350pp. Duodecimo [19 cm] Pale blue cloth with black ink stamped titles on the spine and front cover, and a small face stamped in black ink on the front cover. Very good. The spine and boards are subtly soiled and stained, and the extremities are mildly bumped and rubbed. The edges of the text block are lightly foxed. There is previous owner's name on the front free endsheet. Yellowed pages.

This is a picaresque novel. Victor Canning wrote a great number of novels and thrillers, a few of which were turned into movies or television shows. "The Rainbird Pattern" (1972) was awarded the CWA Silver Dagger and nominated for the Edgar awards.
