318pp. Duodecimo [19 cm] Pale blue cloth with dark blue ink stamped titles and single ruled borders on the spine and front cover. Illustrated endpapers. Good plus. The spine and covers have general light soiling, the spine is gently faded, and the edges of the spine and covers are subtly rubbed and bumped. The text block edges are lightly foxed. This once belonged to the library of J. O. Gould, with a faint ink stamp on the front pastedown, and another ink stamp on the first page of the prologue. There may be an occasional ink stamps in the text.

The plot involves the kidnapping of a Russian princess, who is held captive in the Huntingtower mansion.
