167pp. Octavo [21 cm] Pale green cloth with gilt and blind stamped titles and linear and wavy designs on the spine and front cover. Very good. The spine and the edges of the covers are faded, and the spine ends are mildly bumped. There is a bookseller's label on the rear pastedown, and the pages are subtly yellowed. The dust jacket is in very good condition, with darkening, more so at the spine. The jacket's spine is damp stained, but the title is still bold. There are multiple small closed and open tears along the edges and folds. The dust jacket shows light traces of soiling. Bleiler checklist (1948).

Homer W. Smith wrote Kamongo while he was searching for fresh-water sharks and other specimens in the East Indies. Although Smith wrote many scientific articles, this is his first work of a primarily literary nature. Man and morality, and their connection to science is a major theme.
