The birds of the Grand Canyon area represent part of a unique biological community which has not been greatly affected by the activities of man. At the time this was published, two hundred and eighty-four known species of birds occupied the diverse habitats in this region extending from sub-alpine meadow to Lower Sonoran desert scrub.
