Comments

A translation of Nouvelles Asiatiques. From the Preface- "So ancient is the land of Asia, so multitudinous are the scenes which it has witnessed, so manifold are the relics and traces which it still retains of all the vast and varied pageant which has passed before it, that the things it offers to our observation defy enumeration. I have done my best to select, from the multifarious material before me, whatever seemed to me most outstanding, most notable and most unfamiliar to our western eyes."
