540pp. Duodecimo [19 cm] Teal blue cloth decoratively stamped in gilt, yellow, orange and yellow. Yellow endpapers. Good. The extremities are moderately rubbed, darkened and stained. The spine is heavily rolled, and there are a number of splits in the cloth at the ends of the spine. The fore edge of the text block is mildly stained. The front free endpaper is absent, there is a prior owner's name on the front flyleaf, and the age-toned pages have sporadic stains in the margins. There are several small open tears in the fore edge margin of pp. 395/396, obscuring a small amount of text. A bit of the text on p. 394 is also obscured, due to a bit of adhered paper. From the collection of Berkeley book collector and letter press printer, John Ruyle, with his ownership inscription in pencil on the front flyleaf.
A collection of fourteen tales.
