190pp. Octavo [20 cm] Red cloth-effect paper over boards with the title in black on the backstrip. Very good. The boards are slightly warped, and the spine and covers show light wear. The endsheets and the text block edges are foxed. The pages have very light foxing in the margins here and there. In a very good dust jacket, with browning and foxing. There is a very short tear in the top edge. From the collection of Berkeley book collector and letter press printer, John Ruyle, with his notations in pencil on the front free endsheet. In Locke, Spectrum of Fantasy.
Five stories centered on the supernatural. This is her first collection. From the dust jacket- "The range of settings is wide: A Welsh cottage, a new housing estate, a provincial museum, an island of the French coast; but common to each, and characteristic f her story-telling, is the accurate observation of people, places and things which creates an atmosphere of such normality that the manifestation of supernatural forces is all the more frightening and believable."
