Frontispiece illustration by Howard Heath. Map at p. 96. Good. The extremities are rubbed and lightly soiled. Gently bumped at the spine ends and corners. The spine is sloped. The underlying boards are exposed occasionally along the edges. There is a small crack in the front endsheet along the hinge. The pages are tanned, and have sporadic small stains. With an open book publisher's device on the title page. Text concludes on p. 310 with the words "powerless to control." First published as Sam Steele's Adventures in Panama by Capt. Hugh Fitzgerald .
