F. Jay Haynes was the official photographer for the Northern Pacific Railroad and the newly established Yellowstone Park. Among other accomplishments, Haynes photographed a presidential camping trip to the park, recorded the tepee-surrounded trading posts, and captured the stage stations and army forts. In Following the Frontier with F. Jay Haynes, Tilden supplements the Haynes photographs by recreating in a lively and enthusiastic manner, the atmosphere of those old days.
