A reference work penned primarily for Missionaries in the field. The Compendium not only references the Bible, Book of Mormon and the Doctrine and Covenants, but also makes reference to "The History of Joseph Smith", which at the time was being serialized in the Deseret News and the Millennial Star. It also makes reference to The Seer, Key to Theology, Spencer's Letters and Orson Pratt's Pamphlets. This represented a major step in the standardization of Mormon theology. Flake/Draper 7217.
