246pp. Duodecimo [19 cm] Blue cloth over boards with a gilt stamped title and wavy borders on the spine. Very good. Gently bumped, rubbed and faded along the edges of the spine and covers. The spine is heavily rolled. The front endsheet is slightly darkened, and there is a large dark patch on the foxed rear endsheet. The dust jacket is in very good condition, with subtle age-toning, rubbing and soiling. There are a number of small closed and open tears in the edges.

From the dust jacket- "In Lady Peck's new novel the stirring past of an historic Scottish house is found by its occupants to be present- as it seems- not only to their imagination, but to their perceptions. Is 'Shadows' haunted? Or have the ongoings some other explanation? A group of people, drawn together by a variety of circumstances, attempt to learn the answers and the investigation and its subject provide Lady Peck with a theme in which excitement and suspense are linked with comedy of character and manners."
