333pp. Octavo [19.5 cm] Olive green cloth decoratively stamped and lettered in black, gray and white. Very good. Much of the white ink stamping on the front cover has rubbed away. The spine is darkened, and the covers are subtly sunned at the edges. The front endsheet has a thin crack along the hinge, and there is a short crack in the rear endsheet along the hinge.
Robert Hichens was an English writer of novels and short stories, some of which were early tales of fantasy and the supernatural. This is a satire of the occult world (spiritualists, mind-readers, Christian Scientists, etc).
