163; [6]pp. Octavo [20 cm] Six pages of publisher's advertisements at the rear. Maroon cloth over boards with the title stamped in gilt on the spine and front cover, and an illustrated paper label, depicting Rough Rider Monument, mounted to the front cover. Top edge trimmed; other edges deckled. Very good condition. Mildly bumped and rubbed at the spine ends and corners of the covers. The spine is barely perceptibly faded. There is a very minor stain on the top edge of the text block. From the collection of Berkeley book collector and letter press printer, John Ruyle.

First edition thus. This is an enlarged edition of Wooed by a Sphinx of Azatlan, with additional stories. Tales of the old West, involving Indian legend ("phantom dog"), and with some weird touches.
