127pp. Sextodecimo [17 cm] Blue cloth over boards with the title stamped in gilt on the spine, and a black ink stamped title and linear borders on the front cover. Very good. The extremities are mildly rubbed, and the spine is a bit darkened. There are several minor tears in the cloth at the spine ends. The top edge of the text block is slightly damp stained, and the bottom edge of the text block is lightly foxed. The endsheets are discolored, there is a bookseller's tiny bookplate on the rear pastedown, and there is a small split in the rear endsheet along the hinge. From the collection of Berkeley book collector and letter press printer, John Ruyle, with his bookplate on the front pastedown.
The first critical study of H. G. Wells.
