SIGNED. 255pp. Large octavo [24 cm] Black cloth over boards with the title in gilt on the backstrip. Publisher's green top stain. Very good. The spine ends and corners of the covers are moderately bumped, and the pages are tanned. In a good only dust jacket, with mild rubbing, minor soiling, and a number of small closed and open tears along the edges and folds, which have been backed with tape. There is also a piece of tape across the head of the jacket's spine. The spine of the jacket is a bit sunned.
The majority of the crimes related here are seldom known outside the regions where they occurred. Holbrook investigated nearly one hundred cases, traveling 11,000 miles, observing scenes of crimes, talking with locals, and once with the murderer himself. Inscribed in the year of publication, by the author at length to former Seattle Times columnist, Marian Feriss Guinn (writing as Dorothy Neighbors), on the front free endsheet.
