285pp. Octavo [22 cm] Tan cloth effect paper over boards with blue ink stamped lettering and peach-colored double ruled lines on the spine. Very good condition. The extremities are very gently bumped and rubbed. The dust jacket, designed by Larry Lurin, is in very good condition, with age-toning, light soiling, and a number of small closed tears and chips in the edges. There are roughly half a dozen small, light stains on the front panel.
A Malthusian comedy, with the theme of over-population. From the dust jacket- "Mr. Burgess's fantasy lays claim to join the select list of books (headed by Brave New World, 1984, and his own A Clockwork Orange) which present a vision of our prospects, macabre yet so germane to our fears that it cannot easily be put out of mind."
